FAQ's

You said it will take work.
What kind of work and how much?

I'm not going to lie.  This does take work. Our weekly calls will be about an hour long.  The audio classes are usually about 90 minutes.  Sometimes there is written work (like questionnaires) or some short articles to read.  There are additional recordings that take about 20 minutes, and it helps if you do them about 2-3 times during the week.  And, while it isn't mandatory, it is very helpful to keep a log or journal of how things are going.

Is it really worth all that time?
That's up to you.  This is truly transformative work and real transformation takes time and effort.  So, if you don't have the time to devote right now, come back when you do.  I'll be here waiting for you.  But, before you decide, remember that starting later means more frustration for you, for your child, and for your family.  It's your commitment to this program that will make the difference to your family.  Not trying to be pushy here, just being honest.

So, is this like Supernanny and I'll get lots of ways to change my child/ren's behaviors?  Because I have tried that already and it never worked for long...
You are exactly right--those behavioral changes don't (and can't) last for long simply because they don't get at the real causes of the behaviors.  That's why we look at the underlying reasons for the behaviors.  Once we address the reasons, the behaviors start to disappear, almost on their own.

I've been in therapy and so has my child.  Isn't coaching just therapy?
No, it's really different.  Therapy focuses on the past, while coaching focuses on the future.  It's true, we may look briefly at patterns that have developed in the past, but we will look more at how to break those patterns to create lasting change.

Does it cost more for both parents to participate?
No way!  This is about family, so this is a family price.  The work is even more powerful if all caregivers are involved, so one price includes whoever is involved.  This could be a co-parent, a relative, or a hired caregiver.

Is this going to be weird?
It could be at first.  But, very quickly, we will get to know each other, and the weirdness will go away.  Happens every time.  Promise.  And you can check out what other parents have said about the experience here.

Why should I trust you?
Great question.  You shouldn't.  Not yet, at least.  Not until we talk and you see if you feel comfortable with me.  And I promise you that everything you tell me is completely confidential and that I will never judge you.  Except to tell you how great you are, because it takes a lot of guts to open yourself up to really shift your parenting.
